On the occasion of Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020, Deutsche Grammophon published the most extensive and complete collection of his works that has ever been published.

This slightly modified Essential Edition now presents Beethoven's entire oeuvre in legendary interpretations from DG's unrivaled Beethoven catalog together with reference recordings and musical treasures from Decca and many other labels. Over 115 hours of music on 95 CDs.

With recordings of many of the greatest Beethoven interpreters, from Karl Böhm to Alfred Brendel, from Claudio Arrau to the Amadeus Quartet, from Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau to Pierre Fournier, from Emil Gilels to John Eliot Gardiner, from Wilhelm Kempff to Herbert von Karajan, from Yehudi Menuhin to Anne-Sophie Mutter, from Murray Perahia to Maurizio Pollini. More than two hours of rarities, including several world premiere recordings with Lang Lang, Daniel Hope and Tobias Koch.

The symphonies, piano concertos and parts of the piano sonatas and quartets are each included in two different recordings, so that the edition invites you to compare interpretations.
