Memories - The Unreleased Recordings 1970 - 2019 (2CD)

On November 1st 2021, Nelson Freire was taken before his time. One year on we remember him with a new collection of unreleased recordings & rare radio tapes.

A 2CD collection of previously unreleased Decca recordings, bonus tracks making their debut on disc and rare radio broadcast tapes – some of Nelson’s finest performances from a time he rarely recorded commercially.

The Berlin Sessions Rediscovered, unreleased recordings from 2014 of Gluck, Bach and Beethoven’s Andante favori – his only recording of this piece. Rare Radio Tapes Broadcast concerto performances from 1970-1985 including Beethoven 4 and Brahms 2, Bartok 1 and Richard Strauss’ Burleske. New to CD Bonus tracks never before released on CD including music by his beloved Villa-Lobos and Debussy. The collection is accompanied by a new essay by Dominic Fyfe, Nelson’s long-time Decca producer.
