German pianist Carl Seemann (1910 - 1983) was in his lifetime a well known pianist. His recordings of Beethoven's Violin Sonatas with Wolfgang Schneiderhan are still one of the best out there. He left a big legacy On Deutsche Grammophon which is celebrated in this box set.

In 1952, Carl Seemann began recording for Deutsche Grammophon, with whom he remained for most of his career. Over the years he recorded many acclaimed albums for the Yellow Label, notably Beethoven's complete sonatas for piano and violin with Wolfgang Schneiderhan or his Mozart solo and orchestral recordings. This edition brings together for the first time his complete recordings on 25 CDs and one Blu-ray audio disc. The 84-page booklet includes essays by Carsten Dürer, Joachim Kaiser and Norbert Hornig.
