Barber, Bruch (CD)
Esther Yoo has been a familiar visitor to Australia and has already garnered something of a following as part of the ZEN Trio who toured in 2022 for Musica Viva. This is her first solo recording in six years and is the Royal Philharmonic’s first under their new music director Vasily Petrenko. Pairing the familiar Bruch concerto is the wonderfully yearning Barber, and added as violin pendants are virtuoso pieces by Bruch and the Belgian violinist-composer Henri Vieuxtemps. The recording was produced in the glorious acoustic of the Henry Wood Hall and the Watford Colosseum by long-time DG producer Christopher Alder.
