The last quarter of the 20th Century witnessed the emergence of an exceptional number of gifted cellists but “none finer than Austrian virtuoso Heinrich Schiff” (The Strad).  As his career developed, Schiff turned increasingly to conducting. At the height of his career as a cellist – as captured on this outstanding set of recordings made for Philips & Deutsche Grammophon – he was a true force of nature. The limited Edition features 21 CDs, all presented in their original jackets and new liner notes in a 24 pages booklet with many archive photographs.
