Originally issued on RCA, later repatriating to Decca, the two albums of evergreen classics, recorded in lush, full-bodied sound by Raymond Agoult, a seasoned, Hungarian-born conductor of popular and light classics, are finally reissued complete on CD. ‘Clair de lune’, features gentle Andantes and tender Adagios, and is paired with an album of overtures by Adam, Auber, Hérold and Suppé.
The 2CD set is completed with a rare LP of Waldteufel waltzes under the direction of the Australian-born Douglas Gamley.
