Following the release of his acclaimed album Opening in 2022, Tord Gustavsen returns with Seeing in 2024 which seamlessly blends Chorale Preludes by Bach and hymns/spirituals with music by himself.

Tord Gustavsen was born in Oslo in 1970 and grew up in the Norwegian countryside. He began playing the piano aged 4, and was composing and improvising before he learned to read music and perform classical pieces. He recalls: “I played in churches and local settings of different kinds, combining classical training with writing my own songs and performing gospel.”

Tord Gustavsen is on a constant search for a fresh and radically stripped-down honest beauty in music. His band works to explore, integrate and serve a holy trinity of emotional intensity, elegance, and mediative musical breathing. Tord has released eight albums under his own name in trio, quartet and quintet formats.

In 2022, Opening by Tord Gustavsen Trio introduced the artistry of bassist Steinar Raknes alongside Tord Gustavsen on piano and electronics, and Jarle Vespestad on drums. The trio’s much-anticipated new album will be released in September 2024.
